Easy Caramel Bars



Ingredients -

2 1/3 cup flour, divided
2 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
2 cups (12 oz pkg) semi sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups walnuts, chopped
1 cup (12.25 oz) jar caramel ice cream topping


Preparation:

Heat oven to 350 F.

Combine 2 cups flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the melted butter. Remove one cup of the mixture and set it aside.

Press the remaining mixture into an ungreased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Remove from the oven.

Sprinkle the morsels and walnuts over top.

Combine the caramel topping and remaining 1/3 cup flour.

Drizzle over the base.

Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.

Bake at 350 F for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned

Cool in pan on wire rack.

Yield: about 2 1/2 dozen bars.
